Libelium partners with NEC on IoT

Internet of things specialist Libelium has integrated six NEC cloud solutions in its IoT gateway Meshlium. The solutions are: Biz4, NEC Connexive, RoboMQ, Spark Compass, Symphoni and Ubicamóvil.

According to Libelium, the reason for the move was to extend the interoperability of its technology, offering a "quicker and easier" adoption of IoT solutions by partners. The company is currently shifting its strategic focus from sensor devices to the aforementioned gateway, thereby enabling the development of end-to-end solutions.

Libelium CEO Alicia Asín said: "The great interoperability of our IoT platform allows customers access to new market opportunities by connecting any sensor - or even any device - to any cloud platform, through any communication protocol.

"NEC's Connexive IoT platform and Meshlium deliver state of art capability for IoT devices and sensor management and orchestration."

Shigeru Okuya, senior vice president, NEC said: "Through this partnership, we will expand the IoT ecosystem leveraging on collaboration as a core factor, and contribute in improving customers' efficiency and creating new social value through IoT technologies."

Statistics issued by Libelium state that more than 100 partners are now using its system, including Amazon Web Services and Ericsson.
