EE comes top in GWS mobile test

Benchmarking organization GWS has carried out its first UK-wide mobile network test, with results suggesting that EE is the UK’s best overall provider.

The data was gathered using GWS’ OneScore system, which looks at a range of service delivery areas, including mobile internet and voice. O2 and Vodafone drew for overall second place, with Three coming in third.

Regarding specific metrics, Three was ranked top for voice quality and call performance, with users in the north receiving the best 4G coverage on O2. EE was ranked first in the south in relation to 4G connection time.

Speaking of the results, GWS CEO Paul Carter said: “We are proud to be bringing our internationally-recognised mobile network testing rigour to the UK for our first nationwide network test.

“By using the state-of-the-art Android and iOS devices we have collected the most thorough data set to date. We are committed to presenting the results in a way that is relatable, and linked closely to the real world experience of the end consumer.”

Along with quantitative results, GWS also accrued qualitative data, including that text message reliability and completing data tasks were the most important areas of network performance for consumers.

According to the organisation, the 2,000 user survey was the first to investigate the user experience on both Android and iOS devices in the UK.
