Everbridge and RiskBand partner up on worker safety wearables

Everbridge, a critical event management and enterprise safety software applications company, has formed a partnership with RiskBand, a provider of wearable, live-monitored professional safety devices, as part of Everbridge’s strategy to cater to the safety needs of employees who may not always have access to a smartphone (e.g. hospitality employees, in-home healthcare providers, or lone workers in the field).

RiskBand’s wearable devices, which will be fully integrated into Everbridge’s platform, provide two-way voice, user profile data, images, and geolocation, in near real-time to organisations’ security operations centres. As part of the partnership, Everbridge will integrate its Safety Connection platform with RiskBand’s wearables, allowing both Everbridge and RiskBand customers to receive emergency messaging and provide detailed reporting of their location. The data from an employee’s RiskBand device is shared back to the Everbridge platform, allowing an organisation to deploy the appropriate emergency response.

RiskBand has access to cellular connectivity in more than 150 countries, and its monitoring services partner offers its support in the vast majority of these nations. Enterprises may also use a closed response model, in which the RiskBand devices connect to the organisation’s own emergency monitoring services.

“The rise in smart technology and connected devices is drastically improving operations for businesses across the globe, and bringing about new opportunities to keep people safe,” said Imad Mouline, Everbridge‘s CTO. “Our partnership with RiskBand is advancing our existing connected safety ecosystem, offering employees without immediate access to a mobile phone with a direct line for emergency communication that they can [use] anywhere.”

Everbridge is looking to introduce additional wearables into the marketplace, and integrate further with IoT devices, sensors, and smart building technology, as part of its work to better protect employees.

“It is especially gratifying that a respected industry leader like Everbridge recognises the powerful solution of the RiskBand ARIES device and platform. We believe that this collaborative partnership will enable us to empower businesses to enhance employee safety through state-of-the-art wearable devices that are fully integrated with the most comprehensive critical event management solutions,” explained Jim Van Law, CEO and co-founder of RiskBand.
