Hytera lays the foundation for its new headquarters

Hytera held the groundbreaking ceremony of its new headquarters building in Shenzhen on September 8

Qingzhou Chen, Hytera's chairman and president, along with its senior management team and representatives from the contractor and supervision institution, ritually laid the foundation for the 200-metre high building at the ceremony, which kicked-off the construction and the drive towards Hytera’s 2020 objectives.

Earlier in September, Hytera’s leaders and selected senior professionals from its global subsidiaries and headquarters gathered in Shenzhen to discuss and set the company’s objectives and strategy for the following three years. At the conference, Qingzhou Chen emphasised four factors that matter for Hytera’s future success:

Hytera has hired Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) to design the new headquarters building. SOM’s works include iconic buildings like the Burj Dubai Tower and New York’s New World Trade Centre. The HQ is intended to be an employee and visitor-friendly space to promote openness, innovation and collaboration.

The new headquarters is expected to be completed in 2020 and will be built in the Houhai area, which is planned by Shenzhen City as the hub for global companies’ headquarters. The building will have 6,000 sqm ground space and a 120,000 sqm floor area, capable of accommodating more than 6,000 employees. It represents a total investment of around 3 billion RMB (£336.6 million). The building will have two towers with full-steel structure. The South Tower will be 42 levels and more than 200-metre high; while the North Tower will be about 50-metre high with around 20,000 sqm of floor area including four underground levels.
