London-based full fibre broadband provider G.Network has agreed a master wayleave with one of the UK’s largest housing association London and Quadrant (L&Q).

Following the agreement, G.Network’s full fibre broadband will be available to more than 30,000 premises across London, the South East and Midlands.

L&Q is one of the UK’s leading housing associations and developers and houses around 250,000 people in more than 110,000 homes. In 2017, L&Q completed the acquisition of Gallagher Estates for an enterprise value of £505m, enabling it to deliver 42,500 new homes in the South and South Midlands.

Full fibre broadband is delivered solely by fibre optic cables into your premises, rather than older, copper ones.

G.Network COO David Sangster said, “Our agreement with L&Q means that thousands more Londoners will be upgraded to state-of-the-art full fibre broadband. We are thrilled to be working with L&Q, and look forward to years of strong partnership working.”

According to Sangster, G.Network is in discussion with a number of further Housing Associations about signing similar agreements.

The new agreement will see Essential Fibre made available to Londoners whose properties live on G.Network, regardless of whether they are in private, council or social housing, as well as spreading across L&Q’s wider geographic network.

Vicky Holland, head of sustainability at L&Q, said, “We are pleased to be working with G.Network to provide better and faster full-fibre broadband. Delivering low-cost connectivity to our residents enables them to take advantage of the well documented financial, economic and social benefits of being online.

“Not only will this help them to access our website, it will also support people working at home or looking for employment."
