Company reaps benefits of going paperless

Duologi, a company specialising in consumer finance has cut its costs and increased the efficiency of its operations, after accepting a challenge to go paperless for the month of July.

The Paperless Challenge is part of a campaign launched by mobile data capture service, WorkMobile, to encourage businesses to reduce their paper usage. It was launched following research by the company that indicated that each worker in the UK uses an average of 45 pieces of paper a day, with two-thirds of that considered waste.

Duoquoi was first business to take on the challenge. To support Duologi throughout the process, WorkMobile provided £500 worth of digital data capture products, along with £500 of expert consultancy.

Since commencing the challenge, Duologi has seen its administrative costs fall, and greater productivity reported by its sales team – which had been reliant paper-based systems to keep track of sales and new business appointments and record information at client meetings. Switching over to WorkMobile’s mobile data capture app, which records everything digitally, enabled Duologi to streamline its processes, resulting in a 40 per cent reduction in admin costs.

There is no need for staff to return to the office and transcribe data from hand-written notes and the app has also reduced the scope for human error, and the time saved means that the sales team has been able to fulfil more appointments in a day.

Giles Askam, operations director at Duologi, said: “We are always looking for ways to improve the way we work, so when the opportunity to take part in WorkMobile’s Paperless Challenge arose we were intrigued to see what kind of impact mobile technology could have for us.

“The results have been brilliant, with administrative responsibilities greatly reduced for our sales team, giving them more time to do what they’re really great at.

“We were concerned that making the switch could prove complicated and time-consuming, but WorkMobile made sure the process was as simple and painless as possible.

“The app is very straightforward and easy to use, and they were always on hand to help out with any questions we did have.

“We’re really pleased with the outcome of the Paperless Challenge, and would definitely recommend it to other businesses who think they might benefit from a new, paperless approach.”
