PCTEL partners with Stargent IoT

Industrial wireless technology solution specialist PCTEL has agreed a new strategic alliance with Stargent IoT to develop Internet of Things (IoT) solutions to support smart manufacturing, process automation and asset tracking.

The new partnership will see the two companies create end-to-end remote monitoring solutions to monitor air quality, temperature, relative humidity, acceleration, angular rate of change, magnetic field, range, and sound.

As part of the project, PCTEL will combine its industrial IoT sensors with Stargent’s software platform to create a new IoT sensor starter kit. The IoT starter kit will include PCTEL’s Wireless Sensor Endpoint (WSE), a versatile Industrial IoT multi-sensor powered by a high-capacity Lithium-Ion Polymer battery pack.

Arnt Arvik, PCTEL’s vice president said: “I am delighted to announce our new alliance with Stargent IoT, a significant milestone in our strategy to expand PCTEL’s Industrial IoT devices market with our sensor portfolio. Stargent IoT’s expertise in micro cloud computing services will help us to create commercial ready plug-and-play solutions enabling our partners to deploy a wide variety of IoT applications.”

Earlier this year, PCTEL added a new feature to its public safety network testing solution that makes it easier to ensure high quality in-building radio coverage. PCTEL’s solution is the first to enable accurate, repeatable indoor uplink testing while eliminating the need for a second technician to receive test calls. The initial release supports uplink signal quality measurements on P25 public safety radio networks in addition to uplink channel power measurements for other Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technologies.
