Motorola Solutions is launching a portable, secure LTE network infrastructure product designed for the emergency services

According to the company, the WiFi equipped-LXN 500 creates an on-demand LTE bubble with a reach of up to one kilometre, scaling to 100 users. The platform on which the solution is built combines an eNodeB (eNB) and evolved packet core (EPC), with extended range provided by roof-mounted external antennas with MIMO configuration.

The solution has an activation time of approximately five minutes, possesses an IP54 rating, and is designed to fit in a briefcase, backpack or vehicle.

Speaking of the product, Motorola Solutions vice president and general manager EMEA Mark Schmidl said: "If a forest fire or other emergency breaks out in a remote area, police and fire brigade commanders can use the LXN 500 to quickly establish LTE coverage where needed.

"We have designed [the product] to cover a wide spectrum of use cases to bring broadband anywhere it needs to be. With our next generation of mission-critical, broadband-based solutions we want to help transform communications towards improved safety for first responders and the people they protect.”

Motorola Solutions is launching the product at Critical Communications World, which is currently taking place in Berlin.

It will also be presenting the TREM, which is another new solution designed to provide real-time radio coverage maps, as well as managing radio interference during crisis situations. The TREM also integrates licensed shared access for the deployment of public safety radio networks within commercial networks when extra spectrum and service priority access are required.
