Airport FRS gateway solution tested

Sysoco has successfully tested a gateway radio solution ahead of a planned roll-out at Lyon-Bron and Lyon Saint-Exupery airports.

As part of the test, the company, which is a Sepura partner for France, took part in a rapid intervention exercise simulating an accident between an aircraft and a fuel-tanker. This was to demonstrate comms synchronisation between several agencies, including airport fire and rescue services, the Fire and Rescue Service of Rhone-Alpes, as well as fuel company Total.

The new gateway solution is based on Sepura SRG3900s, which enables extended communications coverage between ground teams and command and control. During the exercise, it was positioned in the command post vehicle to enable communication in local mode between all portable radios within a two kilometer radius.

A spokesperson for Sepura said: “The use of gateway radios allows Aeroports de Lyon to run a system that links the SSLIA to the command post of the Saint-Exupery Airport.

“Sysoco’s gateway solution will provide coverage into neighbouring areas of the airport and support nearby Lyon Saint-Exupery airport, thanks to the 12-meter high telescopic tower.”
