WBA award winners announced

The Wireless Broadband Alliance has revealed the winners of its seventh annual Industry Awards. The announcement was made at Wireless Global Congress, which took place this week in London.

Speaking of the awards, a spokesperson for the organisation said: "They honour the exceptional progress made in wireless networks, smart cities and remote wireless deployments among operators and technology vendors worldwide. The aim of the independent judging panel - made up of industry experts, analysts and journalists - is to recognise and encourage excellence, as well as to promote successful practices and strategies in different aspects of wireless industry performance."

Tiago Rodrigues, general manager of the Wireless Broadband Alliance said: "All the award entries this year highlighted the innovation, passion and expertise of the players within the WiFi industry. To the winners of each award, as well as those shortlisted, I would like to congratulate you on the outstanding contributions you have made.

"The industry’s commitment to the advancement of WiFi globally is truly inspiring, and this approaching year is set to be one of our most exciting as we move into the era of 5G. I am honoured to be part of this progressive and exciting space.”

The winners of the WBA Industry Awards 2018 included:

- Best operator deployment: KT Corporation

- Best wireless network infrastructure: Ruckus Networks

- Best consumer-centric wireless service innovation: SK Telecom

- Best business wireless service innovation: th University of British Columbia, Cisco and Sensible Building Science

- Best connected city deployment: City of London Corporation & CTIL.

The WBA wireless leadership award went to Dr Derek Peterson, Boingo Wireless, Anupam Shrivastava and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
