Enea has announced it it is trialling the 5G MicroCore in Asia on existing private 5G networks. The 5G MicroCore is based on the company’s existing 5G Core product with what Enea claims is enhanced telco-grade reliability, security for data storage and "access from the core to the edge to safeguard private enterprise networks".
Private 5G networks are key to the so-called Industry 4.0 which combines emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing.
According to the company, the 5G MicroCore features data management capabilities including Unified Data Manager (UDM), Authentication Server Function (AUSF) and User Data Repository (UDR). 5G MicroCore can also work across both private and public clouds including Amazon Web Services, Azure and Affirmed UnityCloud.
“Thanks to our scalable, cloud-native software architecture, we can offer shrink-wrapped, out-of-the-box 5G solutions, unlike some legacy suppliers that rely on bulky technology,” said Roland Steiner, senior vice-president of telecom business unit at Enea.
“With our 5G MicroCore, enterprises get the best of both worlds – a sophisticated 5G Core with telco-grade robustness delivered at the right scale for easy and fast provisioning.”
