Airbus supplied several different TETRA radios to the organisers, including its THR880i and TMR880i devices, as well as providing additional network capacity for the racing site. The company has been involved with Formula 1 in Bahrain since 2005.
Speaking of the deployment, Airbus vice president Selim Bouri said: “Events such as Formula 1 draw massively people’s attention [to] the Arabian peninsula. To keep the Bahrain Grand Prix safe and well-organised, a TETRA system from Airbus was [essential]. It is an honour to serve the organising committee of this Grand Prix with our technology each year.”
The race was won by Lewis Hamilton, who was driving for Mercedes.
