Emergency One's Internet of Things
Fire appliance manufacturer Emergency One is connecting its vehicles’ on-board consoles to a dedicated, 4G-enabled IoT network operated by Vodafone.
The system is designed to enable central command and fleet engineers to track the location of individual vehicles, as well as monitoring speed of travel and fuel consumption. The e1Fleet console also communicates essential onboard diagnostic information across Vodafone’s IoT network from the vehicle.
Speaking of the technology, Emergency One project manager Elliot Boyce said: “Our system has proved successful in allowing us to continually monitor fire vehicles, and provide a quick response to any issues that may arise.
“We have full-time software engineers along with electrical engineers working daily to improve this system for our customers.”
Vodafone group director, Internet of Things, Ivo Rook said: “We are delighted to be working to improve the efficiency and reliability of fire and rescue vehicles up and down the country to help people have a safe and happy Christmas.”
According to figures released by Emergency One, the company produces around 150 fire and rescue appliances every year.
