Mair spent 37 years career at the American telecom giant, including spending time as its president of networks engineering and operations. According to a statement, he was responsible for launching the first standards-based mobile 5G network, as well as “launching the first secure communications platform used nationwide for US public safety workers [ie FirstNet]”.
