According to the company, the product uses text analytics to search a variety of different data types, including witness accounts. It is designed to help investigators “in isolating relevant entities and linking related records, [in order to] quickly gain insight into significant networks and relationships.”
The solution functions through the creation of ‘visualisation workspaces’, enabling multiple investigation streams to be simultaneously managed through the generation of network link diagrams, timelines, map views and so on. It is based on SAS Visual Investigator, which alerts users to heightened risks or threats.
Speaking of the tool, SAS’s senior director Michael Ames said: "SAS Intelligence and Investigation Management is tailored specifically for law enforcement. It speeds up the grind of poring through piles of reports and provides investigators new leads - and more time to pursue them - to get criminals off the street.
"By allowing officers to become more proactive in their investigations, we are supporting men and women in uniform in the critical mission of helping to keep citizens safe."
