According to Nedaa, the facility will be the first of its kind in the region, working on ‘creative solutions’ across a variety of verticals, including education, health, utilities and transport.
The lab will also contribute to the Smart Dubai project, something which has been envisioned by the ruler of Dubai HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. As part of the agreement, Nokia will allow Nedaa access to its IoT platform Intelligent Management Platform for All Connected Things, otherwise known as IMPACT.
Speaking of the project, Mansoor Bu Osaiba, CEO, Nedaa, said: “Now, we can start following our cooperative roadmap with Nokia to help accelerate Dubai’s transformation into a truly smart city. We will be bringing top Emirati talent onboard in keeping with the UAE’s vision of empowering its citizens to proactively participate in the key sectors underpinning the country’s transition to a post-oil era.”
It is anticipated that the lab will begin operations “within the next few months.”
