According to a spokesperson, the series of trials were staged in order to check “multiple aspects” of autonomous drone operations. They were “very successful, allowing for further exploration for future operational improvements.” The tests took place near Seoul.
Speaking of the trials, Percepto chief executive officer said: “We are proud to have been selected by SK Telecom, to demonstrate the potential of both 5G and autonomous drones.
“SK Telecom is the largest mobile operator in Korea, leading the world in the field of mobile telecommunications by commercialising its 5G network in December 2018.”
SK Telecom has been collaborating with Percepto’s representative in Korea, Dain SNT. Percepto claims to be the only ‘drone in a box’ provider offering autonomous flights over cellular networks.
