60 seconds with Land Mobile's Charlotte Hathway

Charlotte Hathway, Land Mobile's deputy editor, discusses what it's like covering the wireless comms industry

What excites you most about wireless comms?

I’m still figuring out what’s significant and what’s interesting, but it seems that I’ve arrived at an interesting time, given the launch of 5G and the way in which mission-critical broadband is looming on the horizon. I’m really looking forward to seeing how end-users make the most of both technologies.

How do you spend most of your time at work?

The past couple of months have been a blur of meetings, events, and a lot of writing! I haven’t worked out what a typical day looks like yet, but I guess it’s a mix of research, talking to people, and keeping an eye on the news.

What’s been your most unusual experience?

I’ve been sent to some pretty random hotels when attending events over the past few years. The lowlight was a hotel that only had ‘smoking rooms’ available, so I spent three nights trying to not breathe… and the highlight was a bizarre clownthemed hotel on the Dutch coast. Let’s just say it’s a good job that I’m not scared of clowns!
