NetMotion Software's CEO and president, Christopher Kenessey, discusses his career in mobile communications

How do you spend your time at work?

Time is spent supporting issues with customers and looking strategically at the future for NetMotion. My goal every three months is spending time on the
road meeting customers and partners, as it’s the most valuable time I spend at work.

What’s the one gadget that you can’t live without?

Given the amount I travel, it’s definitely my iPhone and my Bose noise-cancelling headphones.

Describe your most unforgettable project.

Helping get the Met Police’s tablet project started. With NetMotion, the Met are making a huge technological leap to give officers information in the field.

What’s the most unusual problem that one of your customers has presented you with?

American Airlines has a global presence with a distributed environment for technology. We helped support the productivity challenges for the devices used by their employees. We met their five nines high-availability requirement.

What advice would you give to a salesperson entering the wireless industry?

The mobile industry is evolving at a rapid pace, so a salesperson is best served working to understand customer outcomes as opposed to pitching bits, bytes and hardware that are likely to change in just a few years.

What’s your driving style?

I really enjoy getting out on the open road and exploring in my car (within the speed limit, of course).

What do you do in your free time to relax?

I enjoy spending time in the outdoors, whether it’s hiking in the summer or skiing in the winter.

Christopher has two decades of industry experience and a reputation for inspiring people. He has a degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Harvard University. Away from work, he is attempting to climb Seven Summits, having climbed Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua and Elbrus.
