MANY makes North Yorkshire testing ground for OEMs

The Mobile Access North Yorkshire (MANY) project has announced it has created a testing ground which it is opening up to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to carry out in field-testing using a 5G Stand Alone network.

Working alongside Quickline Communications, MANY is testing the N77 Shared Access Band close to Quickline’s headquarters in Hull as part of plans to provide full broadband connectivity in the rural community of Coverdale in the North Yorkshire Dales.

As part of this testing, MANY has offered access to OEMs to test their user equipment (UE), on what the project claims is “one of the only working trial sites in the world”. According to MANY, this approach will provide manufacturers with the “enhanced experience” of how their equipment works in the field rather than in a lab.

Paul Howard, technical director at OEM D-Link, said: “Having access to the Quickline real-world network for testing has enabled D-Link to ensure our 5G CPE and ODU devices perform with greater throughput and stability which will, in turn, enable Quickline to deliver outstanding High-Speed Internet to customers who have suffered from poor connectivity for too long.
