Cleveland FRS says hello to WAVE

Cleveland Fire Brigade’s control room has installed Motorola Solutions’ WAVE CRS product, thereby allowing operators to communicate via both radio and data

According to the company, the solution supports both analogue and digital radio, as well as telephony systems, social media, and messaging services and alarms. It is accessed by a single user interface.

Speaking of the system, Cleveland assistant CFO Ray Khaliq said: “Our brigade provides fire and rescue services to the boroughs of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar, Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees - an area covering nearly 600 square kilometres.

“We decided to upgrade the existing system in order to add new functionality, enabling us to improve our service to the public and prepare for the next generation of emergency services [communications].”

He continued: “[The solution] enables us to better-connect our people and teams, regardless of their chosen method of communication. This provides operators with greater situational awareness and the ability to communicate quicker and more accurately when dealing with incidents.”

Phil Jefferson, Motorola vice president said: “The cloud-based and on-premise versions of WAVE are a key part of our smart public safety solutions offering. They underline our continual investment in the public safety sector.”
