The project will see an additional 150 kilometers of fibre laid across the city, with the intention of providing increased bandwidth optimised to 100 Gbps.
Speaking of the rationale behind the move, a spokesperson for the company said: “Colt has identified Dublin as a city where demand for [broadband] services will increase over the coming years. According to the European Commission, the Irish economy will have grown by 5.6 per cent by the end of 2018, driven by both the domestic market and foreign trade and investment.
“This predicted economic growth is likely to attract continued interest in Dublin from enterprises and financial services firms seeking to expand their European presence.”

The company currently connects around 350 buildings in the city, as well as 23 data centres. The current roll-out began in September of this year.
